Set up your terminal
Connect the platform you trade on to the Prop Trader Guard app. About five minutes, done once per terminal.
Which platform?
1. Download the bridge
Download PropGuardBridge.ex5 Source (.mq5)Version 0.23. Read only: it reports equity, open positions and deals. It cannot place, change or close a trade.
2. Put it in MetaTrader
- In MetaTrader 5 choose File › Open Data Folder. A folder window opens.
- Open
MQL5, thenExperts, and dropPropGuardBridge.ex5in there. - Back in MetaTrader, in the Navigator panel on the left, right-click Expert Advisors and choose Refresh. PropGuardBridge appears in the list.
3. Allow it to reach the server
This is the step most people miss. Without it nothing is sent and MetaTrader does not say why.
- Choose Tools › Options, then the Expert Advisors tab.
- Tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL.
- Double-click the empty row underneath, paste this, and press Enter:
https://proptraderguard.fly.dev
- Press OK on the Options window. Closing it with the cross does not save.
4. Pair it
- Drag PropGuardBridge from the Navigator onto any chart of this account.
- In the Inputs tab paste the code into Pairing code and press OK. Leave the server address as it is.
- Make sure Algo Trading in the toolbar is on. The EA shows a small hat in the top-right corner of the chart when it is running.
The box at the top of this page turns green within a few seconds, and the app fills in. The bridge saves its own token, so the code is never needed again on this terminal and can be cleared from the inputs.
If it does not connect
- Open the Toolbox at the bottom of MetaTrader, then the Experts tab. Every problem is printed there as a line starting
PropGuardBridge:. - WebRequest is not allowed or error
4014: step 3, and check the address is spelt exactly and the Options window was closed with OK. - pairing failed: the code has expired or was already used. Make a new one in the app.
- not paired: the Pairing code input is empty. Remove the EA from the chart and attach it again with the code.
- Anything else: this small test script, dropped in
MQL5 › Scriptsand run on a chart, prints whether the terminal can reach the server at all. Send its two lines to support.
1. Get the bridge
Download PropGuardBridge.csA cBot, as source. Read only: it reports equity, open positions and closed trades. It cannot place, change or close a trade, and it needs no special access rights.
2. Build it in cTrader
- In cTrader open Automate (the robot icon on the left).
- Press New next to cBots and name it
PropGuardBridge. - Open the downloaded file in any text editor, select all, copy, and paste it over the generated code in cTrader's editor.
- Press Build. It should say the build succeeded.
No address list is needed on cTrader: cBots may call the internet without any setting. The bridge is already pointed at https://proptraderguard.fly.dev.
3. Pair it
- Under the cBot press Add instance and pick any chart. Check the account shown at the top is this account.
- In the parameters paste the code into Pairing code.
- Press Play.
The box at the top of this page turns green within a few seconds. The bridge saves its own token, so the code is never needed again on this terminal.
If it does not connect
- Open the instance's Log tab. Every problem is printed there as a line starting
PropGuardBridge:. - pairing failed: the code has expired or was already used, or the instance is on a different account than the one in the app.
- server replied 409: the account was added in the app as a different platform. Add it again as cTrader.
- The bridge cannot run on cTrader cloud instances, which have no internet access. Run it on this computer.
Nothing to install
TradingView shows charts. The account itself lives on a platform behind it: FTMO, for example, connects TradingView through the OANDA broker profile. Nothing can be attached to TradingView, so an account traded only through it cannot be read live.
If your firm also gives you MetaTrader 5 or cTrader for the same account, add it in the app as that platform and follow those steps instead. Otherwise the app still gives you the rules, the lot-size calculator, your own limits and the news for this account; the ring, trade log, journal and behaviour alerts stay empty.
Nothing to install yet
The bridge exists for MetaTrader 5 and cTrader. For MetaTrader 4, Match-Trader, DXtrade and others there is no way for a program on your side to read the account yet. The app records the account and gives you the rules, the lot-size calculator, your own limits and the news; live figures come when a bridge for the platform does.
Keeping it live
Live figures need the platform running with the bridge attached. If the PC sleeps or a VPS stops, the app shows the account as stale until it is back, and the bridge resends the last two days of history when it restarts. Many prop traders run their terminal on a small VPS for exactly this reason.
